Pop’s Bagels, a well-known neighborhood shop in Morris County, was temporarily shut down after a fire broke out inside the building late Tuesday night. According to local police, the blaze caused significant damage to the interior but resulted in no injuries to workers or nearby residents.
Authorities said officers and firefighters responded shortly after receiving reports of smoke coming from the roof of the business. When crews arrived, they found flames inside the kitchen area and quickly worked to contain the fire before it spread to neighboring storefronts.
Fire officials believe the incident may have started in an equipment area, though the exact cause is still under investigation. The shop was closed at the time, and no employees were inside.
The Morris County Fire Marshal’s Office is assessing the extent of the damage and will determine when the business can safely reopen. Police noted that early indications show no signs of foul play.
Pop’s Bagels, known for its breakfast sandwiches and longtime local following, issued a brief statement thanking first responders and assuring customers that repairs will begin as soon as possible.
“We’re grateful no one was hurt,” the owners said. “We’ll be back as soon as we can.”
